PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Drinking alcohol while pregnant can lead to learning and intellectual disabilities in a developing fetus. Babies born to mothers who drink alcohol during pregnancy can have a baby with what is known as fetal alcohol syndrome, which could cause vision or hearing problems as well as kidney or heart issues.

This raises the question: As marijuana is legalized in different parts of the country, it is safe during pregnancy? The answer is quite clear: Marijuana should not be used in any form during pregnancy.

Some of the issues include the delivery of a stillborn or a low birth weight, as well as behavioral and learning issues. Both alcohol and marijuana need to be avoided during pregnancy.
