PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The July Fourth holiday is an opportunity for many to take to the roads, rails and air to visit family and friends. Few would argue that we shouldn't take advantage of opportunities like this, especially after the isolation during the pandemic's peak.
However, it is important to make certain that you travel as safely as possible. The most obvious thing you should remember is to wear seat belts and use car seats if traveling with a small child.
If you are operating a vehicle, avoid alcohol and make certain that you pay close attention on the road because others may not be so careful.
If you are going to a barbeque, make sure you cook meat and poultry thoroughly and keep food well refrigerated. Do not leave it sitting out for extended periods.
Simple steps can have a major impact.
