PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — We want to put COVID-19 in the rear-view mirror, but scientists suggest we should not lose sight of it completely.
Over the past two years we have learned that, when it comes to COVID-19, things that happen in Europe seem to repeat themselves here.
COVID-19 case counts are increasing in many European nations, as are hospitalizations.
Hopefully, the trend is limited and perhaps we can dodge more problems, but scientists are in agreement that we should be preparing for a fourth vaccine dose and building up our research efforts and supply.
There had been hope that a third dose would provide protection for a year, but that does not appear to be happening. A major part of learning to live with this virus is not looking away — even if most of us want to.
