Medical Report: Reducing eye strain from computer screens

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Four out of five Americans spend at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen, and another two-thirds say they commonly use two electronic devices at a time.

During the pandemic, a growing number of people began working from home, and with virtual meetings, even more people are using computers. The result can be eye strain, which can lead to blurry vision, headaches and potential long-term damage from exposure to blue light.

There are ways you can help reduce the strain. Reducing overhead lighting can help, or you can also try increasing the text size.

One other recommendation is to take time to look away every 20 minutes that you focus on a screen.
