PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A major new study has looked at the use of reduced sodium-added potassium salt substitutes in people who have had strokes.
The study of more than 15,000 people found that reduced sodium lowered the risk of a repeat stroke by 14%.
Certainly, this study is important for those who have been victims of a stroke, but the study also sends a strong message: Reducing salt in your diet can help lower blood pressure.
Lowering blood pressure can dramatically reduce the incidence of heart attack and stroke. Reducing sodium in our diet can help all of us.
