Medical Report: As COVID-19 lingers, the unvaccinated remain the biggest concern

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An increase in COVID-19 cases here in the United States is causing great concern.

It is a shared experience. For more than two years, COVID-19 has had an impact on our lives, and news of another wave raises emotions and feelings that range from denial to fear.

The reality is that denial is a major mistake. COVID-19 will spread faster if people don't take precautions, but fear is not a positive emotion either.

It is clear we will not go back to the early days of COVID-19, because we are better prepared. Vaccines have been a tremendous help; we know the importance of masks and there are medications when needed.

The biggest concern remains for those not vaccinated, because they remain vulnerable and are capable of spreading the virus longer than those who have been vaccinated.

Testing and improved air circulation need to be emphasized – and the reality is that both will be necessary for quite some time.
