PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) —There is no doubt that getting some sun outside in fresh air is good for both our mental and physical health, but there are some precautions that we should all think about.
First, if you are going to be out in the sun, wear a SPF 15 sunscreen or higher and apply it at least 30 minutes before you go outside. Even if you do this, it is wise to stay in the shade when you can. If you are on the beach or at a pool, use an umbrella if one is available.
Drink plenty of fluids — especially on those hotter days. It is also a good idea to wear a hat and sunglasses.
