PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of three Delaware County men is set to be arraigned Tuesday in federal court for allegedly trying to steal an election in Millbourne Borough more than three years ago.

When Nural Hasan lost the primary race in May 2021 for mayor of Millbourne Borough, he continued on in the general election as a write-in candidate — but prosecutors said he was doing a lot more than just campaigning for votes.

Prosecutors said Hasan and Mohammad Munsur Ali asked friends who did not live in Millbourne for personal information so they could change their addresses to the borough and write in Hasan’s name.

Authorities said they changed their addresses on the Pennsylvania voter registration website, diverting the mail-in ballots of nearly three dozen people.

Hasan still lost the race.

Authorities said Hasan — who is still listed as the Millbourne Borough Council vice president on its website — conspired with Ali and Mohammad Rafikul Islam in the scheme.

All three men have been indicted on federal charges, including conspiracy and fraudulent voter registration.

Islam, a former Millbourne Borough Council member, will be arraigned Tuesday afternoon. Hasan and Ali — who is also still listed as a council member — are expected to be arraigned on Thursday.

There are no attorneys listed for the three men.
