PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Bucks County boy who had gone missing on Monday evening is confirmed dead after first responders rescued him from a pond, according to authorities.

A 9-year-old boy was reported missing in New Britain Borough just before 6 p.m., according to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department. They say officers were dispatched to a pond near Doylestown Hospital to look for the boy.

Investigators say they found his bicycle and a fishing pole near the pond, but the boy wasn’t there.

Officials say a dive team from Point Pleasant Fire Department responded and searched the pond, where they found the boy. He was taken to the hospital, where police say he was pronounced dead.

Central Bucks police ask any witnesses who may have seen the boy at the pond to contact them.
