PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you’re voting by mail in Philadelphia, you can drop your ballot at Lincoln Financial Field Saturday afternoon, or at one of the schools or rec centers in seven other neighborhoods that election workers will be visiting with mobile drop boxes.

The City Commissioners are using the mobile option to replace satellite offices they had set up in November. They’ll visit two dozen neighborhoods between now and the May 18th primary.

"They are safe and secure. There’s a chain of custody. It just offers voters another opportunity, without using the USPS, to get us their ballot," said Chair Lisa Deeley.

She eplained that the commission has sent out more than 80,000 mail-in ballots, but have seen fewer than 30,000 returned. She wants to make it as convenient as possible to get them in.

There are also 14 permanent drop boxes that are accessible 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Suburban counties are also offering the drop box option.

You can request a mail-in ballot until May 11th. They must be returned by the time polls close on Election Day.

"However voters choose to express themselves, whether by mail or in person, the main thing is they need to be part of the process," said Deeley.
