PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Bridgeport man is charged with the attempted murder and aggravated assault of his two-month-old son.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office says Daniel Rohloff, 33, covered surveillance cameras inside his home before the assaults which happened Monday night, according to the criminal complaint.

There was no video, but the complaint details the audio of the baby in one sequence crying "within 11 seconds of the camera being covered." At one point, the baby was "making a loud, screeching, unusual-sounding cry."

Another time, as the criminal complaint states, "Rohloff can be seen covering the camera with a towel, and then faint gurgling sounds made by (the baby) are audible. Then, (the baby) begins intensely screaming."

The boy had seizures and was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia the next morning.

Doctors called police as they found the boy had broken ribs, internal bleeding and a bruised liver.

The district attorney's office says Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth has been involved since the child was born, and has tried to limit Rohloff’s unsupervised contact with the baby.

Rohloff is held on $1 million cash bail, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for next month.
