VALLEY FORGE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Your dog may be just as tired of being cooped up as you are in this age of COVID-19.
Now Montgomery County is inviting dog owners to bring their pups out to the suburbs for a day or even a weekend of fall activity.
Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board spokesperson Rachel Riley said the area serves as the home of the annual National Dog Show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks.
And because of that, there's plenty of love in the area for your canine friend.
"Our dog-friendly Valley Forge National Historical Park," recommended Riley. "Anywhere you go just make sure to keep your dog on a leash, of course, and bring little bags with you just in case.
"We also have almost 100 miles of trails out here in Montco as well as dozens of other parks," she added.
"So there are plenty of ways to bring your dog with you, bring the family, bring the kids, really enjoy this beautiful fall weather and watch the season change with your furry friend right by your side."
And after a brisk walk, how about a bite to eat?
"Lots of our restaurants are dog-friendly," Riley said. "You can sit outside and eat with them, and some of them even have custom, homemade biscuits and little treats just for your pup."
And, Riley asked, what's the hurry to get home?
"There are plenty of dog-friendly hotels," she said. "We have about 80 hotels here in Valley Forge, Montgomery County, Pa. and almost half of them are pet-friendly."
While visiting, Riley said take some pictures and share them.
"#MakeitMontco or #EmbarkMontco and we'll share your pup on social," she said.
More dog-friendly activities are available at their official website.
