PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Montgomery County’s 9/11 memorial is getting a new permanent home.
The 18-foot-tall sculpture will be moved from the county’s Emergency Operations Center in Eagleville to Elmwood Park in Norristown.
There will be a procession on Sept. 1. The public is invited to watch as the memorial travels through Lower Providence and West Norriton to Norristown. Viewing areas include Elmwood Park, Centennial Park and the Lower Providence Fire Department.
Laborers from more than a dozen construction firms and unions volunteered to help relocate the sculpture.
A rededication ceremony will be held at Elmwood Park, along Harding Boulevard, on Sept. 11 — the 25th anniversary of the attacks on U.S. soil.
