
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Montgomery County authorities are investigating a tragic incident in which a woman killed her husband and tried to kill her son before taking her own life on Saturday.
According to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, Upper Dublin Police were called to a FedEx warehouse around 9:30 a.m. Saturday by 57-year-old Tonya Dupree’s adult son. He reported that Dupree had called him out of work and pointed a gun at his head in her car. The son was able to wrestle the gun away from Dupree, causing her to flee.
Police have recovered the weapon.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., Upper Merion police conducted a welfare check at Dupree's King of Prussia home and discovered Robert Dupree Sr., 62, in his bed, dead from a gunshot wound.
Around 11:30 a.m., Philadelphia police discovered a body floating in the Schuylkill River off of Kelly Drive and near the Falls Bridge in East Falls. The body was identified as Tonya Dupree’s.
The Montgomery County Detective Bureau, Upper Merion Township Police, and Upper Dublin Police are conducting a joint investigation.
