MOORESTOWN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A group of residents in Moorestown are putting political beliefs aside in favor of unity.
About 50 Moorestown residents lined Main Street, cheering on resident John Scully as he ran waving the American flag and delivering a message.
"It's just an opportunity to say let's all come together," he said.
Scully is a fixture in town with his regular 10-mile jogs with the flag. He took a little break, and with a group of residents like Karen Reiner, they thought Presidents Day would be perfect timing to bring back those jogs.
"We can come together as a community regardless of who we voted for," said resident Vick Bobadilla.
Bobadilla was born in Peru, and seeing Scully with the flag reminded him of "what it is to be an American and what it is to have a chance to be a citizen here. I don't take it lightly."
Jennifer Brinkman said the event came together after the Capitol insurgence.
"It doesn't really matter your differences but we wanted to focus on things we all have in common and bringing some unity and healing to our town," Brinkman said.
