PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The American Academy of Pediatrics firmly recommends that screen time should be dramatically limited in children under 2.
In addition, between the ages of 2 and 5, screen time should be limited to less than one hour per day. There have been numerous studies that have shown a negative impact on brain development, especially in children under 2.
A new study out of Canada has found that the use of tablets in children who are younger than 3 ½ is associated with greater anger and frustration, and the impact can last for as much as a year.
This is one of the first studies to associate the use of tablets with problems with emotional control. Human-to-human interaction is the best form of communication as crucial development of the brain is occurring.
