PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say a 23-year-old is fighting for his life after colliding with an SUV Friday morning.
Authorities say the man was riding a motorcycle on Martin Luther King Drive near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge around 5:30 a.m., when the driver of a Chevrolet Traverse, a 27-year-old woman, tried to make an illegal turn onto Greenland Drive.
In an effort to avoid colliding with the car, police say the motorcyclist tried to steer around the Chevy. However, it skidded into the rear driver side door.
An eight-year-old boy was also inside the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and is in extremely critical condition. The child was taken to a hospital but has since been released, while the Chevy’s driver was uninjured.
