PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three firefighters were injured while battling a fire in Mount Holly, New Jersey on Sunday, which destroyed two homes and damaged another.
According to Westampton Township Fire Chief Craig Farnsworth, a 911 caller said there may have been children trapped inside the burning house on Cherry Street, but it turned out they weren’t home.
“The firefighters, the police officers and the EMTs here, they did an amazing job with the heat,” Farnsworth said. “They worked extremely hard to make sure that the children were out of the house and try to stop the fire from advancing to any additional houses.”
Three firefighters suffered minor injuries related to the heat.
The home where the fire started is a complete loss, as is the second. Fire officials said the family of the damaged house could soon return.
