PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Rocky Fest is coming to Philadelphia for six days in December, and the Philadelphia Visitors Center Corporation has partnered with Mural Arts Philadelphia to create a mural to mark the occasion.
The mural will depict four real-life individuals who embody the spirit of Rocky Balboa, Sylvester Stallone’s character from the classic boxing films.
Mural Arts Founder Jane Golden went more into detail about what makes a real-life Rocky.
"We are looking for people who are fearless, and tenacious and really determined and follow their dreams and their passion and do what they can to make the world a better place,” she said. “So we are really encouraging everyone to nominate someone."
Nominations for Rockys are open until this Friday, and can be submitted through the Philadelphia Visitor Center’s website.
The artist will start painting the people’s images from photographs in November. The mural will adorn the Rocky shop next to the Rocky Statue near the bottom of the Art Museum steps.
QR codes will accompany the final mural so members of the public can learn more about the selected real-life Rockys.
