PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man shot and killed his uncle during an argument, and then turned the gun on himself Sunday morning.
It happened around 11 a.m. along the 3000 block of Spruce Avenue in Glenside, Montgomery County.
Abington Township police said 28-year-old Brandon Maurer shot his uncle, 54-year-old Billy Maurer. There were other family members home at the time, but they were not hurt.
A neighbor told our newsgathering partners at NBC10 that they were shocked to hear what happened.
“It’s pretty heartbreaking. This is very close for comfort. I walk here all the time, my kids are out here all the time. I mean, they’re older, but they take walks late at night. I mean — it’s really disheartening, to be honest.”
Police said they found a gun owned by Brandon at the scene. They have ruled it a murder-suicide.
