PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Castle County police officers safely corralled a runaway miniature horse after the animal apparently knocked down a fence at its home overnight and escaped.
Police found the horse Monday morning trotting along Lynthwaite Farm Lane near the Village of Rocky Run condominium complex in Wilmington, Delaware.
The police department posted on social media asking for help finding the pony’s owner, and they were reunited within a few hours.
The mini horse is named Southern Star Lightning and affectionately — or appropriately — nicknamed Bolt. Police joked online that tryouts for police-mounted units are not until next year.
“We’re not sure he’ll meet the height requirements anyway!” they quipped.
