PHILADELPHIA KYW Newsradio) — A 75-year-old Marlton, New Jersey woman is in critical but stable condition after her son allegedly beat her on the head with a rock.

Lawrence Kim, 43, is now in custody after the attack, but Evesham Township Police are still asking for the public's help in this active investigation.

Officers were called Monday afternoon to a home along Woodlake Drive in Marlton.

“When officers got out there, they found the 75 year old female unconscious, with severe injuries to her head,” said police Lt. Daniel Burdette.

Burdette said investigators suspected Kim was the attacker, and believed he fled to Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

"Then we worked with the Lower Merion Police Department, and they were able to actually locate and apprehend the suspect and take him into custody,” said Burdette. “[He] is currently lodged in Pennsylvania in jail, and awaiting extradition.”

Burdette said they track many crimes that cross municipal and state lines, so law enforcement groups often collaborate on the criminal justice process.

“The relationships between agencies, in-state and out-of-state, federal agencies, all of these agencies have a good working relationship,” he said. “To have the best possible outcome, we all have to work together efficiently, and this is a perfect example of that.”

Kim faces charges of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Burdette said the motive is unclear. Anyone with information is being asked to call the Evesham Township Police department at 856-983-1116.
