NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) An elementary school teacher in Burlington County has been arrested and charged with inappropriately touching seven students.

The county prosecutor says 58-year-old Vincent Root of Philadelphia is facing multiple charges for allegedly sexually assaulting students at Chatsworth Elementary School.

Investigators say all of the victims were male students and that the incidents occurred in various classrooms over a multi-year period.

The investigation began last month when a former student came forward with the allegations.

School officials say Root has been placed on administrative leave and banned from the campus.

He’s in the county jail awaiting a detention hearing.
