New Jersey teen charged with manslaughter in fatal assault of Mount Ephriam man

Mount Ephraim, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey teen now faces second-degree manslaughter charges in connection with an assault that turned fatal.

Camden County police were called to the parking lot of a business in Mount Ephraim on March 23rd for the report of an unconscious male. Officers then discovered the victim, 46-year-old Oron Beebe, lying on the ground with an apparent head injury.

Beebe was transported to Cooper University Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries days later.

Detectives learned later the victim was punched in the head by the 16-year-old, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

The teen was originally charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault and taken into custody in Cherry Hill.

He is currently in the Camden County Youth Detention Center.

The teen's identity has not been revealed.
