SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Two suspended state troopers from South Jersey have been charged for sharing sexually explicit images of children with each other.
Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck said 49-year-old Jeffrey Reitz of Williamstown and 36-year-old Andrea Knox of Mount Holly had several explicit text conversations and shared nude pictures of underage girls.
Reitz was indicted in 2019 for a similar email exchange with a different woman. In those messages, they exchanged explicit photos, and the woman suggested Reitz should sexually assault a young girl.
The present investigation discovered Reitz allegedly conversed with Knox in 2018. Officials say Knox encouraged Reitz to share explicit details and pictures.
Authorities say Knox failed to report that Reitz shared images of child sex abuse with her, despite being a state trooper. Police say the pair tried to destroy Reitz’s phone amid the investigation.
Both are facing more than 10 years in prison, if convicted on a list of charges, including possession of child sexual abuse material, official misconduct, and attempted evidence tampering.
