PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey woman is charged with stealing more than $1.2 million from her employer in Montgomery County.
Linda Mansi, 53, from Tuckerton, was the vice president of finance and human resources for Arnold’s Office Furniture and Sunline Supply Company in Bridgeport, near Valley Forge.
According to the criminal complaint, the company set up a separate account that only Mansi had access to, with the intent of making it easier for her to do her job. But the company contacted police after they found what is described as thousands of personal payments made from the account, dating back to January 2016, totaling $1.27 million dollars.
The complaint says unauthorized payments from the account were made to medical and dental providers, online gambling sites, Phillies season tickets, vacation and airfare, her son’s lawyer, and his prison commissary account, among others.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says Mansi preyed upon her employer’s trust, adding “This situation is not completely uncommon,” calling it a reminder that businesses and organizations need to have checks and balances on anyone who handles finances.
Mansi is facing a lengthy list of felony charges, including theft, receiving stolen property and forgery.
