DARBY, P.A. (KYW Newsradio) — A 9-year-old boy was hurt in an e-bike crash Saturday afternoon in Darby, Delaware County.
It happened around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of MacDade Boulevard and Chestnut Street.
Surveillance video from a produce store across the street shows the boy on the e-bike, then falling on the ground as a truck drives by him.
Another boy he was with then helped pull him onto the sidewalk.
Idris Booker lives in the neighborhood and told our news partner at NBC10 that it's dangerous for bike riders to be out on that busy stretch of MacDade Boulevard.
“No bike lane or nothing. As you can see, the paint is gone. There are a lot of holes in the street. It needs to be fixed,” said Booker.
He also said it was sad that e-bikes are becoming the norm, as many local businesses in the area sell them.
Officials have not revealed the boy’s condition or provided any information about the driver involved.
