More than a dozen NJ beaches under swimming advisories due to high levels of fecal bacteria

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — More than a dozen New Jersey beaches and swimming areas are under advisories for high levels of E. coli and fecal bacteria.

Most of them are in Atlantic City. Other areas under advisory are mostly bayside beaches and swimming areas in Ocean City, North Wildwood and the lagoon in Sea Isle City — places that are more susceptible to storm runoff.

Monmouth County

  • Laird (Long Branch City)
  • Highlands Rec Center (Atlantic Highlands Borough)

Ocean County

  • Hancock (Seaside Heights Borough)

Cape May County

  • Harbor Lane and Bay (Cape May City)

All of the swimming areas remain open, just with an advisory in place.
