PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Highland Park, New Jersey, man charged with kidnapping his 2-year-old son has now been charged with killing the boy’s mother.

Tyler Rios, 27, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Yasemin Uyar, of Rahway, New Jersey.

Authorities say 2-year-old Sebastian did not show up for day care on Friday, and Uyar did not show up for work. Police checked out Uyar’s home and found no one inside.

A widespread Amber Alert went out that evening for the child. Police said he and Uyar were with the boy’s father. On Saturday, the boy was found safe in Monterey, Tennessee, but Uyar’s body was found off of a highway in a wooded area.

An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.

Rios is in custody in Tennessee pending extradition back to New Jersey.
