BRIDGETON, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A Cumberland County drug and alcohol rehab facility has agreed to pay $19.75 million for billing the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) for services it was not licensed to perform.
U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba’s office said Seabrook House in Bridgeton submitted claims to VHA’s Community Care Program and New Jersey’s Medicare program between Jan. 1, 2022 and Dec. 31, 2024 for short-term residential treatment and partial hospitalization care, both services for which it did not have a proper license to provide.
Investigators said Seabrook then lied to state inspectors about providing those services. They also said the facility failed to meet staffing requirements and kept false or inadequate records of the care it provided to patients.
Habba’s office said Seabrook has cooperated with the investigation and is disciplining those responsible for its missteps.
