Police say unattended bag at NJ train station had handgun, loaded rifle inside; suspected owner arrested

NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A man was arrested Friday after police found a suspicious bag at a New Jersey train station.

NJ Transit Police say they were notified of an unattended bag at Newark Penn Station around 3 p.m. Inside, they found a handgun and loaded rifle.

They say the suspected owner of the bag purchased an Amtrak ticket and was on a train heading to Virginia.

Police arrested him at the Trenton Transit Center, where they say he had three handguns and two rifles on him.
