PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Firefighters are facing the bitter cold elements Friday morning as they battle a fire at a North Philadelphia restaurant.
The blaze started around 3 a.m. at Bella Vista, a Latin fusion restaurant at Whitaker and Hunting Park avenues.
Heavy white smoke billowed out as crews tried to tackle flames shooting out from the building.
High winds are blowing the smoke around, as well as moisture from the water used to fight the fire. As that moisture hits the ground, it freezes, creating slippery conditions. Firefighters are spreading salt around the road and sidewalks.
There are no reported injuries.
