PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A New York City police officer is accused of shooting a man during a road rage incident in Voorhees, New Jersey last month.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, 27-year-old Hieu Tran, of Yonkers, New York, fired his service weapon during a road rage incident on May 17, hitting a 30-year-old man.
It happened at the intersection of Route 73 and Cooper Road. Officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash and found the victim with a gunshot wound.
The man is still hospitalized.
Investigators scoured through surveillance video and linked ballistics evidence from the scene to Tran’s department-issued gun. Tran was taken into custody at an NYPD station on Thursday and is pending extradition to New Jersey.
He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
