PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A bookkeeper in Montgomery County is charged with keeping more than she was supposed to from her employer. Authorities say the alleged theft helped furnish a lavish lifestyle.
Tiarah Brokenborough of Ardmore is charged with stealing nearly $400,000 from her employer, Hynes Roofing and Siding.
Officials say among other things, she spent that money on rent and vacations, and used it to buy tickets to go see the Flyers, 76ers, and Cowboys.
They added the 29-year-old even used it to attend a Drake concert.
"There was some liposuction and buttocks augmentation that was done as well," said Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Scott Frame.
Frame said the alleged theft took place between October 2018 and March 2020.
"We look at these cases and we're looking for checks and balances to be put in place. That's really the message that we want to get across with this is that we need to make sure that there is more than one person looking at the money in these small businesses and that the other small businesses learn from this," Frame said.
Brokenborough is charged with multiple felony counts of theft by deception and unlawful taking.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for early next month.
