PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A local rapper who is the son of a popular Philadelphia rap artist and podcast host was killed in a triple shooting in Olney Thursday night.

Police identified the 25-year-old victim as Devin Spady of Wyncote. A source close to his family said he is also known as rapper YNG Cheese, NBC10 reported. His father is artist Gillie Da Kid.

Once word spread, fans expressed their condolences on old Instagram posts on both of their accounts.

Wallo267, Gillie’s cousin and podcast co-host, posted photos and a music video on Instagram of Spady. He wrote, “Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well!”

The shooting happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. at Mascher and Nedro streets.

“That’s where we found 10 spent shell casings,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We know 10 shots were fired from a semi-automatic weapon.”

A witness told police that Spady was shot after he got out of a Mercedes-Benz SUV. He was hit in the back and died in the hospital shortly thereafter.

Two other men were hit, a 28-year-old and a 31-year-old. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment and are stable, according to police.

Police did not release a motive. There are private surveillance cameras in the neighborhood, which detectives will be scouring through as they investigate further.
