Overnight shootings in Philadelphia leave 1 person dead

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are trying to get to the bottom of multiple shootings overnight, including one that left a man dead.

Investigators say that man was shot to death in the Point Breeze section of the city. Police were called to South 19th Street around 10:15 p.m. Friday over a report of a large crowd.

Officers found an unidentified man in his mid-20s shot several times throughout his body. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m.

Authorities are also working to determine who shot a man inside a home in Grays Ferry overnight.

Police say officers were called to a home on South Bailey Street between Dickinson and Tasket streets, just before 3 a.m. There, they found a 35-year-old man shot in the chest. He was rushed to a hospital and is listed as stable.

No arrests have been made in either case.
