DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A fuel spill from an overturned tanker truck closed part of the Route 1 Media bypass in Upper Providence for hours Monday.
The crash happened around 9 a.m., near mile marker 39 between Baltimore Pike and Route 252. About 2,000 gallons of fuel leaked onto the roadway. The driver was able to escape the tanker and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It was not clear if any of the hazardous material spilled into the Ridley Creek. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Services was on the scene to investigate. Drivers were advised to avoid the area as crews responded to the hazmat situation.
As of 5:30 p.m., the truck was removed from the site. The southbound side reopened after about seven hours. The northbound side was closed for nearly 10 hours.
