PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The coronavirus pandemic has helped influence more people in our region to pack their bags.

According to a Move.org survey, Pennsylvania and New Jersey cracked a top 10 list of states from which people moved in 2020.

The Garden State was seventh on the list, just ahead of Pennsylvania, which ranked eighth.

Many of the top 10 states that people left also made the list of top 10 states where others moved in. For Pennsylvania and New Jersey, however, that was not the case. More people moved out and fewer moved in.

33% of respondents who did move said they weren't planning to move this year, and 45% said their move was related to COVID-19.

Most people pointed to income loss and the need for affordable housing.

More than a third of people who responded to the survey said they moved due to pandemic-related matters, including health concerns, work, housing, or money.
