PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — State and county law enforcement say they made more than 100 arrests in 10 days, targeting drug dealers who bring illegal narcotics out of Philadelphia to sell in the suburbs.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said over two five-day periods in September and October, police from Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Philadelphia counties conducted 327 traffic stops and arrested 102 people. Ninety-four arrests resulted in drug charges.

Police also seized 12 illegal firearms, along with fentanyl/heroin, meth, cocaine, PCP, oxycodone, suboxone, Xanax, psilocybin mushrooms, codeine, and marijuana. The narcotics have an estimated street value of more than $365,000.

“It's a problem that we all share, since some of our residents are the ones who are going in and out of Philadelphia to get those drugs, to sell them on the street, to sell them to our residents, and to drive on our streets under the influence of these drugs,” Steele said.

Steele said these were just the first two rounds; they plan to continue the joint effort.

“Drugs and the violence that stem from the organizations that peddle them are not just city issues. These are Commonwealth issues. In other words, if it's not in your town today, it could be tomorrow,” Sunday said.
