PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Shapiro administration is giving Pennsylvanians more time to seek property tax relief.

The new deadline for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is Dec. 31, 2026.

That allows eligible Pennsylvanians, including adults age 65 and over, widows and widowers age 50 and up, and people with disabilities 18 and older, to have more time to apply for rebates on rent or taxes paid last year.

Rebates from 2025 that have been approved for payment will be distributed starting July 1.

Applicants can receive up to $1,000 back, depending on their yearly income.

Last year, more than 513,000 seniors and people with disabilities received rebates totaling more than $315 million.

Applications can be submitted for free online or in person. Assistance is available for those who need it.
