PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Pennsylvania State Police SUV rear-ended a pickup truck Thursday morning on the Schuylkill Expressway.
Shortly before 7 a.m., police said a trooper was en route to the scene of a hit-and-run on I-76 East. While the trooper was driving on the right shoulder of I-76 East, with his emergency lights and sirens on, officials said a white pickup truck also pulled onto the shoulder near the exit for the Vine Street Expressway.
The trooper wasn’t able to stop and rear-ended the pickup, according to authorities.
The crash pushed the white pickup into a sedan that was traveling in the right lane of I-76. The front end of the trooper’s vehicle was smashed.
Officials said the trooper and the two people in the pickup truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The sedan had minor damage and the driver left the scene.
