PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pennsylvania officials have helped most of the people who have reached out to file for unemployment, but not yet all. If you're having trouble getting through still, you may want to change your approach.
Department of Labor and Industry officials reported 97% of the people who filed either got their money or were told they’re ineligible. They won’t be satisfied until that number is 100%.
There are three main ways to reach the Department of Labor & Industry, via telephone, online chat, and email.
Unemployment Compensation Benefits Policy director Susan Dickinson said phones are the busiest, especially if you call early in the week.
"We still have plenty of new claimants coming in to serve as well as claimants who already have claims we're trying to answer questions for," she said.
But they did add a chatbot to help.
"Those individuals who are then able to have (the chatbot) answer a general question for them don't have to tie up the lines getting into our regular staff," she explained.
Dickinson said they've made great strides with chat and email, and recommended using them if you can. You will get through to them though no matter what.
