PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In a move to make Philadelphia city government’s operations more transparent, Mayor Cherelle Parker unveiled a new web page that displays a number of the city’s operations and measures how well they are functioning.
The page is called Philly Stat 360, and it tracks city operations under the four pillars promised by the Parker administration of safer, cleaner, greener and economic opportunity, and an additional one that tracks core services.
In a press conference announcing the web page on Tuesday, Parker said ease of use for the platform is core to the experience.
“It’s designed to be easy to use and digestible for dinosaurs like me,” she said. “You don’t have to download or have any special degrees to use it.”
Some of the many things tracked on the platform include everything from homicides and drug overdoses to miles of bike lanes, the number of building permits, and the average wait times for city services.
The platform also has a grading system for services, marking whether they are meeting the administration’s target operation level, near it, or in need of improvement.
Parker’s Chief Counsel Kristin Bray led the team that designed the site.
“The website promotes accountability and shows the public how we are delivering on our promises,” said Bray. “This is a major step forward in connecting Philadelphians with their government.”
The web page also has a button for visitors to click and provide feedback on the services — something Parker welcomed.
“Our feelings aren’t hurt when you say, ‘this is what you can do to make a service better.’ We want that feedback,” she said.
