PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A section of I-295 northbound in Salem County is closed for emergency repairs.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation says drivers will be detoured at exit 1B on to Route 130 northbound while repairs are made on the Hawks Bridge Road overpass in Carney’s Point.
The state’s contractor IEW Construction Group is making temporary repairs so they can re-open I-295 northbound, the state said. Barring any unforeseen issues, the ramp to I-295 northbound from the Delaware Memorial Bridge should open sometime Friday afternoon, according to a representative from NJ DOT.
Reopening Hawks Bridge Road could take considerably longer. The state said Route 140/Hawks Bridge Road eastbound is closed at Route 130, though they will be allowing local traffic access.
The westbound lanes of Route 140 Hawks Bridge Road are closed at the bridge, with traffic being diverted onto I-295 northbound.
NJDOT said that the I-295 on-ramp from Route 49 and the exit ramps onto North Hook Road, Route 40 West/I-295 South/Delaware Memorial Bridge and Route 130/Route 40 East are closed and detoured.
