PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office struck a deal with a man and a woman charged in connection with a fatal shooting outside Pat’s King of Steaks in South Philadelphia nearly two years ago.

Paul Burkert was charged with the first-degree murder of David Padro, of Camden, New Jersey. Authorities said Burkert got into a fight over a parking spot with Padro in the outdoor dining area and shot him.

Burkert’s lawyer claims it was self-defense.

Burkert’s girlfriend, Jamie Frick, was charged with third-degree murder.

Both of those charges were dropped. Instead, Burkert pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a firearms charge, and Frick pleaded guilty to simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Both are expected to be sentenced in June.
