Police investigating after pedestrian fatally struck by car on I-76 on-ramp in South Jersey

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A man was fatally struck by a car on the ramp for I-76 in Gloucester City, Camden County early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened on the Route 130 southbound ramp to I-76 East around 2:30 a.m.

According to New Jersey State Police, the driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse was on the ramp when a man got in the car’s path and was hit.

The victim was identified as 60-year-old Douglas Cella, of Sewell. Police did not release any information about the driver, only stating no one else was hurt. Police did not say anything about charges being filed.

There’s a Royal Farms and a motel nearby, but police did not say if the victim had come from those spots or was going there.

Around 7 a.m., a tow truck took the Eclipse away, which had front-end damage.

The ramp reopened shortly before the morning rush.
