PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver near 30th Street Station Wednesday morning.
A big police presence blocked off 30th and Market streets for several hours.
The Philadelphia Police Accident Investigation Division says a woman in her 50s was on the road of Schuylkill Avenue when she was hit by a Cadillac. The driver stayed at the scene. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly thereafter.
Police redirected traffic and kept people away from the scene while they investigated.

Police reopened Schuylkill Avenue around 8:30. a.m. and traffic started moving again. The road closures caused headaches for many drivers trying to get on the Schuylkill Expressway from Market Street and Schuylkill Avenue.
Schuylkill Avenue was completely closed at Market Street, and traffic wasn't being allowed down JFK Boulevard either.
