Pedestrian struck, killed while crossing Route 1 in Delco, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing Baltimore Pike in Middletown Township, Delaware County Wednesday night.

It happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. near the Granite Run Mall.

A witness told Pennsylvania State Police that a 35-year-old man stepped into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes of Route 1. A driver in an Acura SUV struck him.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police.
