PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Burlington County mayor was seen on video charging at a man during a public township meeting.
Video shows Pemberton Township Mayor Matthew Bianchini lunging at resident Michael Sawka during Wednesday night’s town council meeting.
Sawka said he filed a court complaint against Bianchini.
“I want to see him resign,” he told NBC10. “I want to see him sign something that he’ll never be in politics again.”
Bianchini said Sawka made some sort of gesture at his daughter and then gave him the finger. The Republican mayor said he “snapped,” but that doesn’t warrant charges.
“Was it wrong? Absolutely. Was it justified? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Absolutely,” Bianchini said, adding he will not resign.
He said Sawka has been harassing him and his family ever since he took office earlier this year. Sawka said he is the victim of harassment from the mayor’s family over his opposition to what he calls questionable government spending.
