PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Some fall sports are coming back to Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne, Delaware County.
The William Penn School District announced last week that all middle and high school athletics had been suspended due to an investigation into an alleged incident.
Officials did not give any details about the incident in question. Sources from Penn Wood told our partners at NBC10 it involved hazing.
Now, officials said cheer, boys soccer, boys and girls cross country, and volleyball have been reinstated. Girls tennis has also been reinstated, but their season is over.
The district has partnered with consulting firm Grand River Solutions to coordinate a response to this incident and investigate allegations of misconduct.
Officials said they issued a climate and culture survey to student-athletes over the last few days. They’re doing the same with coaches, and each coach will have to review district policies before coaching again.
